Ashleigh and Dane thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your very special day.  It was beautiful and so were you.  Ashleigh, thank you for all the years as a faithful and trusted part of our studio.  You have become a part of our family and will be missed.  Enjoy the images.

At the 2010 Arkansas Professional Photographers Association annual convention in Little Rock, Stephen was named “High School Senior Photographer of the Year” for the second year in a row.   This year we used one image from each of our 4 senior models.  The black and white image  was also awarded “Best photo of a high school senior”.  We also carried a wedding print from Kim and Jarrod’s Hankin’s wedding and won “First Place Wedding-Salon Division and the” Kodak Gallery Award”.

Early morning, before sunrise, provides soft light and still air for long exposures. The soft light allows for a wider range of detail from shadow to highlight.  Contrast is then adjusted during printing or post production. This image was made on T-Max 400 with a RB67.

Early morning in Horseshoe Park is one of the most beautiful parts of the Rocky Mountain National Park.  The early hour can provide absolute still air and mirror like reflections in the water.  The one thing that is not obvious in this image made by Janet is how cold it was.  She made this on 35 mm Kodachrome with a 400mm lens isolating the evergreen across the lake.

Again, back in Rocky Mountain National Park we were working in and around Lorain Park when we saw this cloud bank moving in.  We positioned ourselves on a good vantage point for Longs Peak and caught the light, and clouds merging over the 14,000 ft peak.

While living in New Mexico we made several trips to Rocky Mountain Park, CO.  In the fall the wild life move down to the lower elevations and the mating rituals create a lot of activity.  It was our practice to contact a photographic equipment rental company in Denver and reserve long lenses to use while in the park.  This image was made by Janet with a Nikon 35mm camera and a 600mm 2.8 lens on ektachrome.

Black and White of Stanley Hotel, 1991

In the fall of 1991 we had been in the Rocky Mountain National Park near Estes Park Co photographing wild life.  A storm built late in the afternoon over the continental divide and move east forcing us out of the park and back to our hotel.  As we were unloading equipment we noticed the cloud formations descending on the city and anticipated a photograph about to happen.  The city is 7500 ft altitude so it is not unusual to find yourself in the clouds or at times on the mountains, above the clouds. We reloaded and raced to a vantage point overlooking the historic Stanley Hotel.  Light was falling fast and we only had time to make 5 or 6 images before it was to dark. I have both color and BW images but prefer the contrast that the BW prints provided. Camera RB67, medium format, 150 mm lens.  Merit Print.
